Anak Krakatau eruption disrupts Jakarta airport operations as ash grounds flights
Flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport were suspended on Sunday morning after volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau was detected over the Jakarta area. The airport said services would remain halted until 1:30pm local time, citing increased eruptive activity from the volcano, which lies more than 150km away. The disruption came after an earlier suspension had been due to end at 5:30am local time.Officials said the extension followed a paper test carried out between 12:35am and 1:05am local time that confirmed volcanic ash at the airport.
