Hurricane Simon has strengthened into a Category 4 storm as it approaches west-central Mexico, with forecasters warning that it could make landfall or pass close to the coast later today. The storm is being tracked near the country's Pacific shoreline, including areas around Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco state.
