Austria ex-intelligence officer Egisto Ott convicted in Vienna Russia spying case
A Vienna jury has found former Austrian intelligence official Egisto Ott guilty of spying for Russia and several related offences. He was sentenced to four years and one month in prison after a trial described as one of Austria's biggest spy cases in years. The court also convicted him of misuse of office, bribery, aggravated fraud and breach of trust.The jury heard that Ott, 63, had handed over information to Russian intelligence officers and to Jan Marsalek, the fugitive former executive of collapsed German payments firm Wirecard.
