During the 61st General Debate of the UN Human Rights Council’s 20th anniversary session, UK Human Rights Ambassador Eleanor Sanders issued a strong condemnation of the Taliban’s recent criminal procedures directive in Afghanistan. The directive, she said, institutionalizes religious discrimination, restricts free expression, and permits violence against vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
