Putin warns Armenia over EU ambitions as Eurasian bloc threatens suspension
Armenia is facing renewed pressure from Russia over its efforts to deepen ties with the European Union. A report published on 30 May says President Vladimir Putin has warned that Armenia cannot reconcile membership of the Eurasian Economic Union with an EU path. The dispute centres on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's stated strategy of diversification, which seeks to build links with both Russia and the West.According to the report, the Eurasian Economic Union, which is led by Moscow, has threatened to suspend Armenia.
