Western sanctions on Israeli settlements trigger election-season backlash
Israel has reacted angrily after the United Kingdom, France and Canada imposed sanctions over illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. Senior Israeli figures described the move as an attempt to interfere in the country's politics ahead of October's elections.
