US and Iran keep ceasefire in place as Gulf tensions remain high
The United States and Iran are both signalling that they want to avoid a return to open war, after a ceasefire announced on 8 April paused the fighting. The truce has held, but military exchanges have continued at a lower level and talks have not yet produced a wider agreement.
