Hurricane Lowell lashes Kauai with outages and evacuations
Hurricane Lowell has caused widespread disruption on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, leaving at least 30,000 residents without power and forcing evacuations as heavy rain and strong winds swept across the area. The Category 1 storm passed west of the island overnight before moving north into open sea, but it still brought destructive conditions to coastal communities.
