UN begins phased evacuation of 11,000 stranded sailors in Strait of Hormuz
The United Nations' International Maritime Organization has begun evacuating more than 11,000 sailors stranded in the Strait of Hormuz after the waterway was effectively closed during the US-Israel war on Iran. The operation is being carried out in phases and is centred on one of the world's most sensitive shipping corridors.
