Seoul court orders North Korea to pay damages over Kaesong liaison office demolition
A court in Seoul has ordered North Korea to pay 44.6 billion won in damages over the 2020 demolition of the inter-Korean liaison office in Kaesong. The ruling is the first in a South Korean lawsuit brought over the destruction of the building, which once served as a communication channel between the two Koreas. South Korean media reported that the court also ordered Pyongyang to cover litigation costs.The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favour of the South Korean government and awarded the full amount sought in the case.
