Mali insurgents attack prison and multiple towns, army says
Insurgents in Mali staged coordinated attacks at five locations early on Saturday, according to an army statement. The targets included a prison in Kenieroba, as well as the towns of Gao, Anefis and Sevare. The fighting began around 4:00am local time, the army said.The army said the attacks involved jihadists and their separatist Tuareg allies. It also said one of the locations was a northern town where government forces and Russian fighters are based, while another was south of the capital, Bamako.
