At least seven killed in prison fire and riot in Kobane, northern Syria
At least seven inmates have been killed after a fire broke out at a prison in Kobane, a predominantly Kurdish town in northern Syria. The blaze followed a riot inside the jail, according to state media reports, and others were injured in the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed.State-run reports said the unrest began after tensions in the town escalated on Friday, following protests over the killing of a former Kurdish fighter.
