Africa drew $70 billion in FDI in 2025, UNCTAD says
UN Trade and Development says Africa attracted about $70 billion in foreign direct investment in 2025, below the exceptional $94 billion recorded in 2024. Even with the year-on-year decline, UNCTAD said 2025 was still the third-highest level for investment into Africa since 1990 and remained roughly one-third above the continent's long-term average. Egypt remained Africa's largest FDI recipient, taking in about $15 billion.
