The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued a comprehensive advisory against all travel to Mali, citing unpredictable and severe security threats. Authorities specifically warn that travelling against this advice could invalidate travel insurance. The advisory highlights the heightened risk posed by terrorist group Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM), which has established blockades along key southern and western routes, including areas around Bamako, the capital.
