Venezuela government and opposition prepare US-backed talks on elections
The Venezuelan government and a segment of the opposition are due to begin United States-backed talks on Saturday aimed at creating a path toward eventual elections. The negotiations come as the country's political divide remains deep, with one of the opposition's best-known figures, Maria Corina Machado, left out of the process.
