Myanmar blast near China border death toll rises to at least 55
A blast at a building storing industrial mining explosives in northeastern Myanmar has killed at least 55 people and injured more than 100, according to the latest confirmed figures. The explosion happened around noon on Sunday in Kaungtup village, in Namhkam township, close to the border with China. The incident has caused widespread damage in the surrounding area, with homes in two villages reported destroyed or damaged.The Ta'ang National Liberation Army, which controls the area, has described the incident as an accidental explosion.
