US Justice Department Sues Ohio Court Over Rule Blocking Federal Arrests Near Courthouse
The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the Franklin County Municipal Court in Columbus, Ohio, challenging a new courthouse rule that it says obstructs federal law enforcement. The defendants named in the complaint include the court, the Administrative and Presiding Judge, and the Director of Security. According to the filing, the rule blocks federal officials from arresting aliens at or near the courthouse. The Justice Department says the rule purports to shield aliens from being lawfully detained at or around the courthouse.
