At least five dead and 86 missing after ferry fire off Palawan
A passenger ferry caught fire off the western Philippines overnight, leaving at least five people dead and 86 others unaccounted for as search and rescue operations continued on Thursday. The blaze broke out on the M/V June Aster about 2.2 km offshore near Coron in Palawan province, according to the Philippine Coast Guard. The vessel had departed from Manila and was nearing its destination when the fire started on Wednesday evening.Officials said 134 people were on board, including 117 passengers and 17 crew members.
