The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) will enforce a revised safeguarding framework for the Eskdalemuir Seismological Array beginning February 1, 2026. The Array, located in southern Scotland, plays a vital role in seismic monitoring which supports national security and defense intelligence, including monitoring activity of strategic importance across the region. This change results from a public consultation that ran from September 27 to December 20, 2024.
