United States lifts sanctions on Eritrea over Red Sea regional interests
The United States has lifted sanctions on Eritrea after deciding not to renew a 2021 measure that targeted the country's governing party and military. The move was announced by the Department of State, which said it was intended "to advance US regional interests" in the Red Sea.
