CIA releases declassified 9/11 warning documents on anniversary of attacks
The CIA has released 71 declassified daily presidential briefs that include warnings about al-Qaeda years before the 11 September 2001 attacks. The documents were published on the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. They span from early 1998 to the day after the attacks and include material from both the Clinton and Bush administrations.Among the newly released records is a briefing dated 10 September 1998 that said Osama Bin Laden's preferred location for a strike was inside the United States, with Washington identified as a prime target.
