Mexican Prison Inmate Sentenced to 25 Years for Leading Major Drug and Gun Trafficking Ring
Servando Corona Penaloza, an illegal Mexican alien incarcerated in Georgia state prison, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. He orchestrated the distribution of in excess of 1,000 kilograms of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Penaloza also directed the purchase and shipment of over 200 military-style firearms destined for Mexican drug cartels. These weapons and narcotics were transported across the US-Mexico border. The federal prosecution also secured convictions and sentences for fourteen other members associated with Corona Penaloza's trafficking organization. Two defendants remain pending sentencing.
