UK set to approve Jackdaw gas field after legal delays
The UK government is set to give the go-ahead for the Jackdaw gas field off the coast of Aberdeen, according to government and industry sources. Approval could come as soon as mid-September, just before Parliament breaks for party conference season. The project has been delayed by a legal ruling in Scotland after environmental groups challenged the original consent process.Jackdaw was approved by the former Conservative government in 2022, but the Court of Session in Edinburgh later ruled that the decision had been unlawful because climate impacts had not been fully taken into account.
