Spain reports more than 1,000 heat-related deaths after June heatwave
Spain has reported more than 1,000 deaths linked to the recent June heatwave, according to official figures released on Wednesday. The Carlos III Health Institute said at least 1,028 people died from heat-related causes during the period. The figures come as the country recorded its hottest first six months on record.The national weather agency said the first half of 2026 was 1.6C above normal on average.
