An inquest has opened into the discovery of skeletal remains of a baby boy found wrapped in a 1910 newspaper under floorboards in a Bishop Auckland property.The remains were uncovered by a contractor during refurbishment work in Fore Bondgate, County Durham, in July 2024.Senior coroner Jeremy Chipperfield confirmed that a postmortem examination was unable to determine the cause of death.DNA analysis identified the infant as male but did not establish his identity.The baby was wrapped in a newspaper called The Umpire, dated June 19, 1910, and had twine looped three times around his neck.Forensic anthropologists estimated the baby was full-term,...
