An illegal alien was sentenced today to 70 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in a federal racketeering conspiracy that relied on fraudulent submissions to immigration authorities and used fraud and coercion to victimize Mexican H-2A workers who, between 2015 and 2017, had worked in the United States harvesting fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products. Orlando Man Sentenced to Prison in Payroll Tax and Wire Fraud Case
Santiago Humberto Erazo-Zelaya, 32, of Orlando, has been sentenced in Jacksonville, Florida, to one year and two months in federal prison. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard imposed the sentence for conspiracy to commit tax fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The court ordered Erazo-Zelaya to pay $765,446.00 in restitution to the IRS for unpaid payroll taxes. The court also ordered $26,720.12 in restitution to an insurance company tied to a workers' compensation claim.
