Mauritius has imposed an overnight curfew after protests over water shortages and the high cost of living escalated into the worst riots the island has seen in decades. The unrest, which began as peaceful demonstrations a week earlier, turned violent on Friday after a woman was shot and wounded by police at a roadblock.
