US Border Agents Find Man Smuggled Inside SUV Gas Tank at San Ysidro
On February 27, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted a 20-year-old driver at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in California attempting to smuggle a Mexican national concealed inside a non-factory compartment within the vehicle’s gas tank. The vehicle, a 2005 GMC SUV, was initially flagged by a CBP canine before a detailed secondary inspection revealed the person hidden inside. The individual suffered burn injuries during the risky smuggling attempt and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista for treatment.
