Rare tornadoes and severe thunderstorms kill at least 11 in China's Hubei province
At least 11 people have died after severe thunderstorms and rare tornadoes swept through central China's Hubei province, according to state media. The storms hit the neighbouring cities of Ezhou and Huanggang, where videos circulating online showed the force of the weather. Local authorities said thousands of buildings were damaged and more than 300 residents were injured.The weather struck on 7 July, with one student in Huanggang describing how he first thought it was "just an ordinary thunderstorm" before seeing "things started flying through the air" outside his dormitory window.
