Euro falls to 17-month low as French debt fears and Spain election add to eurozone uncertainty
The euro fell to its lowest level against the dollar in 17 months on Monday, as investors grew more concerned about France's debt position and wider political uncertainty in the eurozone. The single currency dropped as much as 0.8% in early trading to below $1.12, its weakest point since May 2025, before recovering slightly.
