South African special forces members charged over murder of detective Frans Mathipa
Seven members of South Africa's special forces and one military police officer have been charged with murdering senior detective Lt Col Frans Mathipa, according to documents shared in the case. Mathipa was shot dead in August 2023 while driving home on a motorway outside Pretoria, after spending months trying to obtain information linked to an investigation he was working on.
