DOJ Launches West Coast Health Care Fraud Strike Force with 10 New Federal Prosecutors

Department of Justice's Fraud Division announced the creation of the West Coast Health Care Fraud Strike Force, a multi-district initiative to intensify efforts against health care fraud in California, Arizona, and Nevada. This new task force will surge at least 10 additional federal prosecutors to the region.
The Strike Force will operate in partnership with multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The objective is to increase resources dedicated to investigating and prosecuting health care fraud cases.
Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald, speaking at the press conference, emphasized the department's commitment to send a clear deterrent message to individuals who defraud the American taxpayer. The initiative represents a coordinated federal law enforcement effort to curb fraudulent activities impacting government health care programs.
The formation of this Strike Force marks an operational escalation in the DOJ's approach toward complex fraud enforcement on the West Coast, leveraging multi-agency collaboration and enhanced prosecutorial capacity.
