UAE details trade-route response to Iran war disruption at GLOBSEC Forum

Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi addressed the GLOBSEC Forum 2026 in Prague on the impact of the Iran war on global trade routes. He said the UAE has responded by activating alternative trade corridors and by presenting itself as a stable and resilient trade hub.

Al Zeyoudi said the measures already in place include the use of the UAE's eastern ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan, air freight bridges for time-critical pharmaceutical and food cargo, a Green Corridor with Oman, and a new Sharjah-Dammam trade bridge. He said these steps were taken since the onset of the conflict to keep trade moving despite disruption.

He also said the UAE deployed an AED 1 billion economic support fund to maintain business continuity and provide targeted relief for small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, he cited a five-pillar Financial Institution Resilience Package launched by the Central Bank to sustain credit flows.

Al Zeyoudi said the UAE's Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement programme has produced 36 agreements with partners across six continents and contributed to non-oil foreign trade of US$1.03 trillion in 2025. He said the UAE's role as a bridge to markets across the Gulf, Africa and Asia has become more important.
