EU adopts first European Peace Facility aid measure for Philippines maritime security

The Council adopted the first-ever assistance measure under the European Peace Facility for the Philippines, with a value of EUR 15 million. The measure is designed to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines in strengthening maritime domain awareness across the country's maritime zones.

According to the text, the support will include non-lethal equipment and related training. The stated purpose is to contribute to regional stability and to protect civilian populations, particularly in coastal and maritime areas.

The EU said the measure reflects deepening security and defence exchanges with the Philippines. It builds on the establishment of the EU-Philippines Security and Defence Dialogue in 2025 and on subsequent cooperation on maritime security, with the EU reaffirming its commitment to work with the Philippines on shared security challenges and regional peace and stability.
