Trump signals broad rollback of Endangered Species Act limits to speed energy, timber, and infrastructure

President Donald Trump made multiple posts on Truth Social in the last hour: - "For far too long, Radical Climate Activists attempted to hold our Great Country hostage by drastically and unreasonably expanding the intended scope of the Endangered Species Act. This was complete and total regulatory overreach by unelected bureaucrats!

They treated Americans very unfairly by stifling the production of important resources like Oil, Natural Gas, and Timber, and blocking the construction of family homes and critical Infrastructure. Even our Military couldn't train on land that was deemed "off limits" to protect a little rodent!

Now my Administration has returned the Endangered Species Act to how it was intended to be, just as the Great Justice Antonin Scalia has explained in previous cases. While responsibly protecting our beautiful Country, the United States of America is going to BUILD again.

"Forgotten" America is forgotten no longer, Get your copy today:https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Collar-Conservative-Reagan-Trump/dp/1960452258" The main signal is a clear regulatory and industrial-policy push, Trump is framing a broad narrowing of Endangered Species Act constraints as a prerequisite for energy output, timber production, housing, infrastructure, and even military training access. If carried into policy, it would likely accelerate permitting and development, while increasing conflict with environmental groups, litigation risk, and possible delays from court challenges or agency implementation fights.

The language also suggests the administration wants this read as a deregulatory growth measure, not a narrow wildlife exception. The historical context is the long-running U.S. fight over endangered-species enforcement, especially disputes over how much habitat protection can limit land use, drilling, logging, and construction.

Trump is explicitly invoking Justice Antonin Scalia, signaling a legal rationale aimed at tightening the statute's scope in line with conservative administrative law arguments. Markets tied to oil, gas, timber, construction, and defense land use would see this as supportive, while environmental policy stakeholders would view it as a significant rollback with durable political and legal consequences.
