Switzerland to host OSCE conference in Zug on cyber de-escalation

Switzerland will host an international OSCE conference in Zug on 29 and 30 September on the theme "Deeskalation im Cyberraum: Mediation und präventive Diplomatie." The meeting will examine how to prevent cyber incidents from escalating into international crises and conflicts, or from intensifying existing tensions. The conference is being organised as the final thematic event under Switzerland's chairmanship of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

It comes ahead of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, scheduled for 3 and 4 December 2026 in Lugano. Federal Councillor Martin Pfister, head of the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, will open the conference.

The closing address will be delivered by Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, who is serving as OSCE chair and heads the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
