Meloni meets Lithuanian president in Rome on EU, defence and Ukraine
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda at Palazzo Chigi in Rome on Tuesday. According to the source, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the solidity of bilateral relations and agreed on the objective of further strengthening cooperation.

The talks focused in particular on the strategic sectors of defence and energy. Both sides discussed key priorities on the EU agenda ahead of Lithuania's forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, including the need to strengthen Europe's competitiveness and industrial base and to structurally reduce energy costs for households and businesses.
Meloni and Nausėda also addressed the next Multiannual Financial Framework, with emphasis on ensuring resources adequate to the Union's ambitions for both new strategic priorities and traditional policies, starting with cohesion and agriculture. They further discussed migration management, the need to strengthen the external dimension of EU action, and common support for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
