Trump announces an immediate energy ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war
President Donald Trump made multiple posts on Truth Social in the last hour: - "Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Thank you for your attention to this matter." - "I am proud to announce that I have just appointed Katie Bailey as Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs.

Katie is currently the Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for the United States Senate, and has already delivered strong results, assisting in the confirmations of members of our Cabinet, including Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, Director of National Intelligence, Jay Clayton, and Secretary of Labor, Keith Sonderling. After previously working on Capitol Hill, Katie understands how the Executive and Legislative Branches of Government can most effectively work together to achieve Great Success for the American People.
Katie will take the place of James Braid, my longest tenured Legislative Affairs Director, who has done a fabulous job, and is now going into the private sector, where he will be very successful. I know Katie will be fantastic, and work tirelessly with Congress to pass Bills that help, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. - "The Dumocrats, along with their partners in crime, the Fake News Media, are trying to create the false narrative that, Donald Trump is so "unpopular, " the Republicans are going to lose.
I'm so "popular, " that the Republicans are going to WIN, and that's being proven by the Record Setting Rallies we're doing (including the one in Tennessee where I'll be in a short while, See you soon!)." - "Mike Ditka was a great champion, both as a player and a Coach. He was MAGA all the way, and he will be missed.

Rest in Peace, Mike!" - "I settled 8 WARS, am close to ending or settling 2 more, got all of the Israeli hostages back, including the final 28, both living and dead, had hundreds of hostages, from countries all over the World, released and sent back home, won a war in Venezuela, and captured the violent dictator who so viciously ran that country, and stopped the number one state sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran, from obtaining a Nuclear Weapon, AND MUCH MORE! Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Noble Peace Prize.
WOW!"

Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Noble Peace Prize. The key geopolitical signal is the claimed immediate energy ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, which would imply a narrow de-escalation centered on energy infrastructure rather than a full battlefield halt.
That matters because strikes on power plants, grids, oil and gas assets, and export nodes have been a recurring feature of the war and a major source of winter pressure, economic damage, and escalation risk. If real, it would be the first meaningful restraint on a critical class of targets, with potential implications for civilian infrastructure, energy markets, and the tempo of long-range strikes.
The historical context is that energy infrastructure has repeatedly been targeted since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, and any pause would be notable even if it falls short of a broader ceasefire. The post does not provide enforcement details, verification, or terms, so the immediate impact is chiefly signaling, not confirmation of durable compliance.
Still, if both sides are publicly bound to this language, it could create short-term market relief and open space for broader talks, while also raising the risk of blame and escalation if either side is seen as breaking the arrangement.
