ICE investigation leads to arrest of criminal illegal alien from Guatemala for employing illegal aliens in Idaho

U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arrested 28-year-old Brayan Adiel Gramajo Reyes from Guatemala on February 28 in Idaho. Gramajo faces federal charges including encouraging illegal entry, using false Social Security information to employ workers illegally, and unlawfully employing aliens. The indictment stemmed from a human trafficking investigation targeting exploitative labor practices.

According to the investigation, Gramajo persuaded two unaccompanied alien children from Guatemala to journey to the United States. Upon arrival in Idaho, they were forced to work demanding physical jobs for extended hours. This case highlights how undocumented immigrants are vulnerable to exploitation, particularly minors seeking better opportunities.

HSI officials stressed that rescuing unaccompanied children exploited in trafficking networks is a top priority. Since the Biden administration began, approximately 450,000 unaccompanied minors have entered the U.S., with many at risk of abuse and trafficking. This arrest represents part of HSI’s intensified efforts to dismantle illegal employment operations and protect communities from fraud.

The case underscores broader challenges in addressing illegal immigration and labor exploitation, impacting immigrant communities, the integrity of U.S. labor laws, and child welfare. Prosecutors aim to send a strong message that exploitative practices and illegal employment will face rigorous enforcement.
