Kuwaiti National Guard Destroys Parts of Warhead from UAV Slammed into Fuel Tank

On March 11, Kuwaiti National Guard Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel completed a seven-day operation to safely extract and neutralize warhead components from a drone that collided with a fuel tank. The warhead did not explode, but posed a significant risk due to the volatile environment inside the tank, which contained petroleum products and chemical vapors.
The technical challenge necessitated emptying the entire fuel tank to prevent any accidental detonation during disposal. The operation underscores Kuwait’s heightened security measures against unmanned aerial vehicle threats amid increased regional drone activity.
The incident directly threatens Kuwait’s critical energy infrastructure and public safety, affecting fuel supply stability and raising concerns over potential sabotage or attacks. The successful disposal mitigates immediate risks but highlights persistent vulnerabilities within Gulf states from aerial drone incursions.
Heightened tensions in the Middle East have seen rising drone-related security incidents, making Kuwait’s vigilance critical to national and regional security dynamics. Ensuring the integrity of fuel storage facilities remains a top priority for Kuwaiti defense and security agencies.
