Qatar Joins GCC Media Event at UN to Back Resolution Condemning Iranian Attacks
Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, participated in a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) media stand in New York to back a UN Security Council draft resolution condemning Iran’s attacks on Gulf states and Jordan. This initiative, spearheaded by Bahrain on behalf of the GCC and Jordan, aims to highlight the ongoing security threats posed by Iran's military actions.
Iran’s strikes on the territories of GCC states, including Qatar, have been described as unjustified violations of national sovereignty. These attacks escalate regional instability and pose risks to peace and security in a strategically vital area.
The media stand and resolution seek to rally international support for condemning these aggressions and emphasize the GCC’s collective stance against Iran’s hostile actions. The diplomatic drive also reflects the broader geopolitical contest in the Gulf, impacting regional alliances and security calculations.
The event marks a significant diplomatic effort by Qatar and its GCC partners to ensure that Tehran’s actions receive clear global rebuke, potentially influencing UN Security Council deliberations and future international responses.
