Egypt Condemns Iranian Attacks on Gulf States, Calls for Immediate Halt

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held multiple telephone discussions on March 12 with foreign ministers from Oman, the UAE, Bahrain, and Germany to address escalating Iranian military attacks targeting Gulf states. Abdelatty strongly denounced Tehran’s actions, describing them as violations of international law and a direct threat to the security of the Gulf region.
These developments come amid rising tensions following Iranian drone and missile strikes on strategic locations such as Oman’s Salalah Port. Egypt’s calls underscore regional alarm over Iran’s efforts destabilizing vital commercial and security infrastructures. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's support for UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which demands a cessation of Iranian attacks and explicitly condemns targeting of civilians and infrastructure.
The regional diplomatic push reflects growing Gulf cooperation to counter Iran’s aggressive posture, which risks broadening conflict and disrupting international maritime trade routes. These tensions could exacerbate instability in a volatile region crucial to global energy markets and international security.
Egypt’s firm stance and international collaboration spotlight the urgent need to prevent further escalation and promote stability in the Gulf amid continued Iranian military provocations.
