Slovak Doomsday Prepper Sentenced to Five Years for Illegal Firearm and Ammunition Production

Stefan Fenyes, a Slovak national residing in Warwick, was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to five years in prison for possessing an illegal Czech-manufactured pistol with ammo and producing live rounds. The National Crime Agency (NCA) launched an investigation after Fenyes placed 227 online orders for tools and materials capable of manufacturing ammunition, including gun barrel cleaning brushes and reloading equipment.
Fenyes, 47, admitted to his fixation with survivalism and doomsday prepping, which motivated his illegal activity. Authorities arrested him at his workplace in Royal Leamington Spa on March 20. This case underscores ongoing challenges law enforcement faces from individuals stockpiling weapons and components under the guise of prepping.
The wide range of specialized components Fenyes ordered points to a sophisticated and deliberate attempt to manufacture ammunition unlawfully, raising alarms about potential threats to community security. The sentencing serves as a deterrent against illegal firearms possession and ammunition production that could fuel violent incidents.
The public and law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant of similar cases where survivalist obsessions intersect with illegal weapon activities, threatening domestic safety across the UK.
