Qatar Lawmaker Urges Action Against Iran After Regional Attacks Since Feb 28

Qatar’s Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, has publicly condemned a series of Iranian attacks against Qatar and other Gulf countries, which began on February 28. Speaking at a virtual meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Executive Committee, she demanded concrete actions beyond diplomatic condemnations to address this rising security threat.

Al Sulaiti highlighted the increasing risk to regional stability caused by Iran's military aggression. She stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, urging lawmakers to actively promote dialogue and peaceful solutions that avoid further escalation. As Vice-President of the IPU Executive Committee for the Arab Geopolitical Group, Al Sulaiti's statement signals a growing regional pushback against Iranian provocations.

The attacks, part of a wider pattern of Iranian hostility in the Gulf, have heightened tensions and raised concerns among Gulf Cooperation Council members about security and stability. Al Sulaiti’s call for concrete measures underscores a mounting demand for coordinated regional and international responses to deter Iran’s aggressive behavior.

With the conflict already impacting diplomatic relations and regional security dynamics, her remarks also indicate that Qatar is positioning itself as a leading voice advocating for stronger international pressure on Tehran and increased parliamentary engagement in conflict resolution efforts in the Middle East.
