Israeli Airstrikes Kill 18 and Injure Dozens Across Lebanon

Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes on multiple locations across Lebanon, resulting in 18 deaths and at least 40 injuries. The strikes targeted densely populated areas including Beirut's Basta and Zuqaq Al Blat neighborhoods, the town of Sahmar in Western Bekaa, Sidon, and Baalbek’s Ras Al Ain district. Among the dead is a paramedic, underscoring the impact on civilian infrastructure and emergency responders.
The attacks have caused widespread devastation to residential buildings and vehicles, worsening humanitarian conditions in affected regions. The large number of casualties and targeting of civilian areas risk escalating already high tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
These airstrikes also represent a significant escalation in regional hostilities, with potential to provoke retaliatory actions. Lebanon’s health services are overwhelmed by the casualties, with hospitals and emergency responders under strain.
Given the widespread geographic reach and civilian toll, these strikes deepen instability in northern Israel's southern neighbor, with possible repercussions for broader Middle East security dynamics.
