Kuwait Shoots Down 13 Hostile Drones in 24 Hours Amid Rising Regional Tensions

In the past 24 hours, Kuwaiti defense forces detected 18 hostile drones entering the country’s airspace, managing to neutralize 13 of them before they could cause significant harm. Two drones specifically targeted operational units of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, sparking minor fires but fortunately resulting in no casualties.
The threat underscores the vulnerabilities of key infrastructure in Kuwait amid regional tensions, particularly related to Iranian-backed hostilities. The Defense Ministry’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams responded to 11 drone-related incidents overnight, raising the total handled since the conflict escalated to 233.
Military spokesperson Colonel Saud Al Atwan emphasized that the drones crashing outside defended areas reveal both the ongoing risk and Kuwait’s active defense capabilities. The repeated drone incursions demonstrate the persistence of Iranian-linked aggression in the Gulf, complicating security dynamics for Kuwait and neighboring states.
This surge in hostile drone activity threatens critical energy assets, potentially disrupting oil production and impacting the global energy supply chain. Kuwait’s effective response so far mitigates immediate damage, but sustained vigilance and regional cooperation remain crucial to prevent escalation.
