Mental Health Crisis Deepens for Palestinian Girls Amid Ongoing Violence

More than two years of relentless conflict and displacement in Palestine have created a profound mental health emergency affecting over one million children in Gaza alone. UNFPA reports reveal that 96% of these children live with an acute fear of death, illustrating deep psychological trauma. Girls face additional risks, including a resurgence of child marriage amid the crisis. Adolescents and youths, often overlooked in humanitarian responses, are suffering tremendous emotional distress, with around 61% experiencing severe psychological effects. The ongoing violence not only threatens the physical safety of young Palestinians but also jeopardizes their mental well-being and long-term development. Humanitarian agencies warn that immediate mental health and psychosocial interventions are critical to prevent a generational mental health collapse. The crisis underscores the urgent need for sustained international support and protective measures amid continuing instability in the region.
