US Border Patrol Seizes Over 120 Pounds of Methamphetamine at Nogales Port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Nogales Port of Entry in Arizona seized over 120 pounds of methamphetamine across two separate law enforcement actions. On March 10, officers at the Mariposa Crossing uncovered nearly 44 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a 2007 Acura RL through a nonintrusive vehicle scan and physical inspection. Another seizure of approximately 76 pounds was also conducted within the same timeframe.

These seizures are part of CBP's ongoing strategy to disrupt drug smuggling operations along the U.S.-Mexico border, which pose a danger to communities nationwide. The methamphetamine is a high-risk synthetic drug contributing to addiction and related crimes in the United States. The interdiction removes a substantial quantity of narcotics intended for distribution, enhancing safety on U.S. streets.

The operation underscores the importance of CBP officers’ training, use of advanced technology, and vigilance in identifying concealed narcotics. Such efforts contribute to national security and public health by limiting the availability of dangerous drugs. Continued success in these actions is vital amid rising concerns about synthetic drug trafficking through major border crossings.

Nogales remains one of the busiest ports for drug interdiction, and seizures of this magnitude demonstrate the critical role of frontline officers in combating smuggling networks and protecting communities affected by drug abuse.
