France Investigates Diplomat Linked to Epstein Case After US File Release

The French government has responded swiftly after the U.S. Department of Justice published files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Fabrice Aidan, a French diplomat mentioned in the documents, has been formally referred to the Public Prosecutor at the Paris High Court under criminal procedure regulations. Alongside this legal referral, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has initiated an administrative investigation and disciplinary actions regarding Aidan's conduct.
The Foreign Affairs General Inspectorate conducted a thorough internal inquiry, completing around 30 interviews with staff familiar with the situation dating back to 2013. This investigation aimed to clarify the diplomat's role and assess any potential misconduct within the ministry. All relevant ministry staff, whether currently serving or not, cooperated fully with the inquiry.
This case highlights the broader global scrutiny and repercussions facing individuals connected to Epstein. The French government's actions emphasize accountability and transparency, reinforcing that diplomatic immunity will not shield misconduct. The outcome of these proceedings could impact diplomatic protocols and the reputation of French foreign representatives.
The investigation underscores France's commitment to cooperating internationally on high-profile cases tied to sexual abuse and trafficking, ensuring justice extends beyond borders and to those implicated in such scandals.
