UK backs OSCE efforts to promote peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The United Kingdom has reiterated its strong support for the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the mission’s role in ensuring free and fair elections and fostering reconciliation among the country's diverse communities. Deputy Ambassador James Ford praised the mission's advocacy efforts addressing election integrity and dialogue between ethnic groups.
In a statement to the OSCE Permanent Council, UK officials expressed commitment to upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement, which has helped maintain peace in Bosnia since 1995. The UK is collaborating with international partners to assist Bosnian institutions in countering threats to peace and stability.
Following the recent presidential elections in Republika Srpska, the UK sees an opportunity for the new leadership to move beyond past conflicts and contribute to a more functional and stable Bosnia and Herzegovina. This approach aims to encourage regional cooperation and reinforce long-term peace prospects in the Western Balkans.
The UK's engagement underscores its broader interest in fostering stability in post-conflict areas in Europe, aiming to prevent renewed tensions and support democratic governance in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
